The fertility of the breed has enabled us to calve our own heifers at 24 months and reduce our calving period to nine weeks

We started using Stabiliser bulls twenty years ago on our mixed breed suckler herd. Today we have  a fully recorded  Stabiliser herd of a high health status.  The fertility of the breed has enabled us to calve our own heifers at 24 months and reduce our calving period to nine weeks. The breed is easy calving and the calves are quick to suckle. This together with their good temperament has encouraged us to increase cow numbers. Consequently the farm is now producing a lot more kilos of beef than it ever did with the old system.
